Overview

Mount Cook, in Māori Aoraki, is the highest mountain in New Zealand at 3,724m above sea level. It is located in the central part of the Southern Alps on the South Island and is also the centerpiece of the Mount Cook National Park.

On clear days, you can enjoy the stunning views of glaciers and snowy peaks, and various activities such as trekking, helicopter tours, and stargazing are available.

  • Drone flights require permission in national park areas
  • As the sun sets quickly, trekking is recommended between morning and noon
